María Hinojosa: One-on-One to end production

Following a final season of episodes airing through Spring 2012, WGBH and journalist and author María Hinojosa will be ending production of the award-winning public television series María Hinojosa: One-on-One. Produced by WGBHÂ’s La Plaza production unit, María Hinojosa: One-on-One has featured more than 100 interviews with AmericaÂ’s foremost artists, writers, activists, and civic leaders. The series has been broadcast in 35 markets across the country, and recognized with a national Imagen Award and a New England Emmy.

«It has been a wonderful five-year partnership as we have shared our commitment to presenting Latino and multicultural topics of interest to our audiences,» said WGBH series producer Patricia Alvarado. «María is an exceptionally talented journalist, interviewer and host, and we look forward to new opportunities for continuing to work together,» she said.

The program change is a result of resource constraints, and WGBH now is in the early development stages of a new locally-focused lifestyle program to continue its more than 30-year history of serving Latino viewers. Past episodes of One-on-One will continue to be shown on WGBHÂ’s digital channel World and available to stream on wgbh.org/oneonone.
«IÂ’ve been proud to be associated with WGBH and to have made a contribution with One-on-One,» said Hinojosa. «WGBH has been a leader in public media in creating quality programs of interest to the Latino community. I know our relationship will continue in new forms in the future.»
