BOSTON, MA – From Whether it’s ‘rock-IN’ with «Movin’ Out» star Michael Cavanaugh or ‘celebrat-IN’ the already more than $1 million raised, the IN Party is the place for Boston’s glitterati to be on Saturday, September 20. More than 500 donors and friends of Boston’s renowned Brigham and Women’s Hospital will gather at the InterContinental Hotel to celebrate the institution’s achievements and to support community health.
Called the «IN Party» — focusing on innovation, inspiration and incredible care — the event showcases some of the hospital’s best most admirable work and its leaders. Brigham and Women’s Hospital President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, will act as host for the evening. And guests will have an opportunity to enjoy revel in and dance to a special performance by Michael Cavanaugh of Movin’ Out. Hand-picked by Billy Joel for the show’s starring role, Cavanaugh has received rave reviews and numerous Tony and Grammy nods.
Event Co-Chairs, Beth and Carmine Martignetti and Heidi and Scott Schuster are the Brigham and Women’s superstar volunteer leaders who have worked tirelessly to create the inaugural event. To date, more than $1 million has been raised to benefit the Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s community health programs.
At the heart of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital mission is support of many community health programs. The funds raised from the IN Party will benefit Brigham and Women’s two health centers, Brookside and Southern Jamaica Plain, as well as the organization’s important Prevention and Access to Care and Treatment (PACT). This program which provides home-based support to people throughout Boston living with HIV/AIDS. The PACT program has been hailed a brilliant healthcare concept that usefully tapseffectively utilizes community healthcare workers. It , and has been so successful in saving lives and money for various healthcare systems that it PACT will soon expand to help high-risk diabetes patients as well.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital is one of the top academic medical centers in the world. The hospital is located in the Mission Hill neighborhood, which includes residents with some of the most pressing health care needs in Massachusetts. And Brigham and Women’s has made a conscious and special commitment to investing in its neighbors. Part of that commitment is ensuring equitable care and increased access to healthcare services.
Serving more than 10,000 patients annually, the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center has operated under the license of Brigham and Women’s Hospital for more than 30 years, offering a wide range of primary and specialty services. Brookside Community Health Center in Jamaica Plain, licensed under the hospital since 1974, provides family-oriented, comprehensive care that includes medical, dental and nutrition services.
By working with these community health centers, the hospital reaches out to collaborate with community groups and organizations to develop programs that look beyond health issues to address social, economic and educational matters as well. In addition, ten affiliate community health centers in Boston in neighborhoods from Roxbury to Dorchester, work with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital to deliver and continue to develop programs for their patients.
