The Internet Cat Video Festival comes to the Berklee Performance Center (BPC) for the second year in a row on Thursday, October 29, at 7:30 pm.
This live event gathers feline fanatics to watch a curated collection of cat clips—from six-second Vine videos to short films and everything in between—in a social environment.
The showcase features a new selection of videos curated by Will Braden, creator of the Henri le Chat Noir videos and recipient of the festival’s first Golden Kitty (People’s Choice) Award. Film critic Roger Ebert called Henri 2: Paw De Deux, «the best Internet cat video ever made.» The new reel will feature approximately 100 cat videos culled from nominations by the public in the categories of comedy, drama, animated, musical, action, vintage, and documentary.
The event, which takes place on National Cat Day, will also feature guests from the Gifford Cat Shelter, and Boston’s Forgotten Felines, who will be exhibiting in the lobby.
Berklee College of Music’s mascot, Mingus the Cat, will also be on the prowl and ready for any photo opportunities.
Patrons are encouraged to come in their best family-friendly cat costume or cat-themed clothing and enter the “catstume contest,” for a chance to win exciting prizes!
This year’s Internet Cat Video Festival will be hosted by Harvard professor and internet expert Jonathan Zittrain, who will speak on the importance of internet cat videos.
Tickets are $8 in advance / $12 day of show, and can be purchased at www.berklee.edu/BPC or at the BPC box office. The Berklee Performance Center is located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA. For additional information, visit www.berklee.edu/BPC.
