The Independent Film Festival of Boston (IFFBoston) has announced the films that will be presented at their 10th annual festival from April 25 to May 2. The films will be shown at Somerville Theatre in Davis Square, Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square and Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline. The festival will feature the best of American and international independentcinema, with 130 film screenings. In addition, there will be filmmaker Q&A sessions, panel discussions, visiting filmmakers, parties and events.
One of the most anticipated films featured in the festival is Sleepwalk With Me, written, directed and starring Mike Birbiglia. Based on his acclaimed Off-Broadway play, the film follows Mr. Birbiglia in a hilarious and personal journey through his struggle with sleepwalking and his reluctance to confront his fears of love, honesty and growing up. Mr. Birbiglia and Ira Glass, host and producer of the radio and television program This American Life, will open the festival on April 25 at Somerville Theatre.
On April 29, IFFBoston will present its award ceremony, including the third annual Karen Schmeer Award for Excellence in Documentary Editing. This award was created to honor the memory of wBoston documentary film editor Karen Schmeer who died in a hit-and-run accident in January 2010.
Tickets will be available online and at participating theatres mid-April, or purchase festival passes online beginning April 1.
