South Hamilton, MassachusettsÂ- Bike Shops across the North Shore will be holding registration nights to launch Tour De Cure North Shore 2012! Every Thursday for the month of March, you will find a different Bike Shop playing host to one of these events from 5:30-7:30 pm (4:30 Â- 6:00 pm on March 29th only).
At these registration nights potential riders can come pick up a special promotion code $10 off the registration fee, gain information on the ride, sign up for training rides, and hear personal rider stories. The promo codes are only available at participating shops; each shops code will begin at their registration night and remain valid for one week.
«Having the support of local bike shops is so important. They not only support cycling as a sport but they understand why we rideÂ… for our Red Riders» says Karen Bagley, Manager of the Tour de Cure. Red Riders are people living with diabetes, type 1 and type 2, who ride in the North Shore Tour de Cure. Red Riders know what it means to have diabetes and they want others to understand that diabetes is a serious disease that can have deadly consequences. To become a Red Rider, you simply self identify during registration process and you will be recognized day of event.
The Tour de Cure Committee, and host bike shops invite friends, family members, cyclists, those with diabetes and those who support someone with diabetes to take part in this motivational event. Become one of the 1,000+ cyclists from around the region that will gather at one of four routes to participate in the event to help raise funds to stop this devastating disease.
Sponsored nationally by GoldÂ’s Gym and Clif Bar, and locally by Fit Werx, North Shore Magazine, Pinnacle Bike Works, Seaside Cycle, and Riverside Cycle, the Tour de Cure is designed for anyone from the occasional to the experienced cyclist with routes from 15-mile family ride to 100-mile century ride. The routes will feature rest stops with food to fuel the journey and volunteers to cheer riders on!
