Boston, Mass. – College acceptance and financial aid award letters will soon be arriving in mailboxes across Massachusetts, and parents and students will be facing the question, «Now what?»
To help parents and students understand the financial aid awards, additional financing options, and next steps, MEFA is offering a free «After the Acceptance» seminar on April 6 at Doherty High School. It is one of more than 20 seminars during the month of April planned at high schools and organizations across the Commonwealth to assist families with important college financing decisions. Families may view locations and register at www.mefa.org/ata.
«After the excitement of being accepted to college wears off, parents and students face the serious question of deciding which college to attend and that means understanding available financing options. MEFA is offering these timely seminars to help parents and students understand financial aid and financing options and make decisions that are right for their families,» said Thomas Graf, Executive Director of MEFA.
The seminars, conducted by college financing experts from MEFA, will assist with:
* Understanding financial aid awards.
* Exploring ways to pay the college bill not covered by financial aid.
* Strategies to minimize the amount borrowed for college.
Helpful tips, worksheets and links to additional resources will be included to provide families with assistance along the way.
Because space is limited, parents and students are asked to visit www.mefa.org/ata to RSVP. All seminars are free and open to the public. MEFA will email a reminder to everyone who has signed up to attend.
