Boston (May 12, 2009) – This year, the National Association of Asian American Professionals- Boston Chapter (NAAAP-Boston), through the generosity of Liberty Mutual and our many corporate sponsors, will be awarding $10,000 in scholarships and internships to two outstanding local high school seniors as they enter college next year.

The purpose of the NAAAP-Boston Future Leaders Scholarship Awards is to recognize and celebrate outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership qualities, community service, and high academic achievement in Boston and the surrounding areas.

Born out of grassroots fundraising efforts in 1987, the Future Leaders Scholarship Awards began as generous donations from NAAAP-Boston members who shared a deep commitment to the belief that true leadership begins young and must be nurtured, promoted, and further cultivated.  Today, many others share that same belief and are just as committed.  Our donors have grown to include a number of prominent local and national corporations and individual contributors, making the NAAAP-Boston Future Leaders Scholarship Awards the premier local Asian American scholarship.

The 2009 NAAAP-Boston Future Leaders Scholarship Award Winners are:

  • Michelle Tran of Danvers High School (The NAAAP-Boston Future Leader Scholarship Award Winner)
  • Suekuen Hua of Boston Latin Academy (The NAAAP-Boston Liberty Mutual Future Leader Scholarship Award Winner)

The NAAAP-Boston’s 20th Annual «Excellence Now. Leaders Tomorrow.» Scholarship Gala will be celebrating the two winners’ accomplishments with the awards being presented to them on Friday, May 22nd 2009 at the Marriott Long Warf in Boston, Massachusetts at 6:30pm in the evening.  The NAAAP-Boston Scholarship Gala event is open to the general public and is sponsored by Liberty Mutual.
