The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Google Inc. announced today the integration of Google Transit with the T’s online schedule and route maps. This addition to Google Maps will now allow travelers three choices when planning their trips, driving, walking, and public transit.
Since 2006, the T has offered its own way-finding application, the Trip Planner that can be found on mbta.com. Unlike the Trip Planner, Google maps will not be able to provide real time updates about service changes or delays. However, unlike the application on the MBTA website, the Google Inc. way-finding application is able to provide door to door trip-planning, using multiple forms of transportation.
