«Inventive and entertaining»
«Argentinean musician Mariana Iranzi’s first album for kids is an amazing amalgamation of influences that translates beautifully into the playful, lively Aventura Collage.»
– Warren Truitt, kids’ music that rocks
Every few years, a new artist comes along with talent and potential to innovate the common perceptions of popular music. The musical world for children it’s growing fast and expanding, giving birth to a new horizon.
Argentinean multi-instrumentalist and composer Mariana Iranzi stands out with a refreshing approach to this musical genre that doesn’t have much to do with the «k-pop» sounding band we’ve been hearing for a while. Fun and educational, Aventura Collage is a healthy party that rejoices the musical and cultural bridge between us each and every one.
The songs on the album, most sung in Spanish, are inspired by the sounds of a multicultural musical career and life. From horn-fueled reggae (Todos los niños del mundo) to acoustic folk (Caballito), from Tango (Milonga Temprana) to rockish blues (Bluseando) and from hip hop (Abra Cadabra) to bossa-nova (Cuidemos al planeta), the wide palette of musical styles and instrumentation are a constant yet pleasant surprise.
Aventura Collage features greatly talented musicians such us pianist Leo Genovese (Esperanza Spalding), vocalist Sara Serpa (Greg Osby 6), saxophonist Bernardo Monk (Mass Tango), guitarist Hammarsing Kharhmar (Robert Hammond Jr, The Strokes) and Mariana on vocals, guitar, bass and percussion, among others.
The album was recorded in Waltz Audio in Boston, JM Studios in Dorchester and FT Studios in Buenos Aires Argentina in 2008. Mixed and mastered by sound engineer Santiago Fernandez Moreno, the first printed album was made in December 2008.
Mariana Iranzi has a wide experience as a bass performer and music educator. Graduated from Berklee College of music in 2005, Mariana teaches instrumental lessons at Guitar Stop in Cambridge, MA and music classes for children at Baby Wiggle and the Children’s museum of Boston. She performs regularly at local libraries, schools, cultural centers and well know venues such as Toad, TT the Bears, Middle East, Paradise, Radio Bean, Regent Theatre and Berklee Performance Center, just to name a few.
Aventura Collage’s CD release party will be held in April 2009, location TBA
