«The annual Ducklings Day Parade begins at 12:00pm on Sunday, May 11, 2008 on Boston Common, opposite the State House. Registration will begin at 11:00am.

Based on the book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey, children and their families will retrace the steps of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their family of eight ducklings. Led by the Harvard University Marching Band, children relive the adventures of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard dressed as one of their favorite characters from the book.

Children, and family members, are encouraged to come to the parade dressed as their favorite character from the book. All children that are registered will receive ducky prizes and refreshments.

Tickets are $25 per family and are available in advance at select retailers in Beacon Hill. For more information please see www.friendsofthepublicgarden.org or call (617) 723-8144.

For additional information, call 617-266-5669 or e-mail ducklingsday@yahoo.com.

Mayor Menino and his children and grandchildren are expected to lead the parade along with the Harvard University Marching Band. They, along with the Boston Dept. of Parks and Recreation, the Friends of the Public Garden and the Boston Police Department-ensuring that Officer Michael stands guard at the corner of Beacon and Charles-all make this parade possible.

For over 25 years, tens of thousands of children have relived the adventures of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their eight little ducklings as they learn about the city of Boston on field trips sponsored by Historic Neighborhoods. And the annual celebration continues to delight families from throughout New England. Family tickets are $25 day of the parade or in advance by calling (617) 723-8144 .»
