The winner of the Revolution-Joe Public FC home-and-away, total-goals series will advance to group play of the inaugural CONCACAF Champions League, which is modeled after the most popular and successful club tournaments in the world – the UEFA Champions League in Europe and the Copa Libertadores in South America.

In total, 24 teams will vie for a coveted berth in the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup in Dubai where the world’s continental club champions will play for the right to be called the best team in the world.

Eight winners from the qualifying rounds will join eight automatic qualifiers in the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League, which will consist of four four-team groups. Each team will play three home-and-away series for a total of six games in September and October. The top two teams in each of the four groups advance to the knockout rounds, which will be played as home-and-away series beginning in February 2009. The winner of the CONCACAF Champions League will be crowned in April 2009.

Joe Public FC, one of the most successful clubs in the Caribbean zone, will face the Revs, who qualified for the tournament through their runner-up finish at MLS Cup 2007. The first leg of the teams’ qualifying series will be played in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Revolution season-ticket holders will use tickets and parking passes to Special Event E for the Joe Public match, and additional information will be sent to them about the tournament’s ticketing and parking pass procedures.

The Revolution (10-5-3, 33 pts.) is currently the top team in Major League Soccer and earlier this month became the first MLS team to win SuperLiga – the tournament between the top four club teams in the U.S. and Mexico. For more information on the team, visit www.revolutionsoccer.net.
