Free show! Saturday, May 30, 2009, 2pm @ The Strand Theater, 543 Columbia Road, Boston
All nine choirs of the Boston Children’s Chorus take part in this FREE season finale. During «An Afternoon at the Theater,» co-sponsored by the City of Boston, nearly 300 voices will fill The Strand Theater in Boston with the sounds of music from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Disney films and a host of favorite musicals that span generations.
BCC is an accomplished children’s singing group with nine choirs and nearly 300 singers ranging in age from 7 to 18 years old from different racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Led by Artistic Director Anthony Trecek-King and Assistant Artistic Director Michele Adams, they seek to harness the power and joy of music as a catalyst to unite our diverse communities and inspire social change. The group has performed at the Democratic National Convention, Gov. Deval Patrick’s Inauguration, with the Boston Pops; and has toured to Mexico, Japan, Chicago, New York and Oregon. In June 2009, 60 singers will travel to Jordan at the invitation of HM King Abdullah II to help commemorate 60 years of official U.S.-Jordanian relations.
