ALPFA Boston becomes the largest chapter in the country reaching over 1,500 members

Boston, MA – The Boston chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) recently reached a milestone by becoming the largest chapter in the country as its membership topped 1,500.

«We’re excited to see our membership grow and see our chapter make history. We surpassed the goals of growth for 2008 and became the largest chapter in the country. To achieve this goal, our leadership board came together and worked collaboratively to help promote our value and benefits of membership to our corporate partners, professional individuals, and student members. This is yet another sign of the great leadership we have and the commitment of the team,» explained Marcela Aldaz, VP of Membership for ALPFA Boston.

ALPFA currently has 34 chapters throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The Rhode Island chapter is the most recent chapter addition. Membership is open to professional individuals who share ALPFA’s values and mission, with at least a Bachelor Degree and aspiring students who are currently pursuing a B.A. or a B.S.

Current ALPFA Boston members find support in the organization through networking events like the annual Leadership Summit and programs like Mentoring, Women of ALPFA, and the recently launched ALPFA LAW for professionals in the legal industry.

The chapter believes that this membership growth will allow for new programs and professional development opportunities for corporate sponsors, professional members, student members, and the community.

«Now that we have achieved this milestone we must and will continue delivering on our promise to create opportunities, add value and build relationships for our members, the community and our business partners while expanding diverse leadership in the global workforce,» mentioned Yvonne Garcia, ALPFA Boston president.

The organization’s 37th annual convention scheduled for August 2009 will be held in Boston. This is a first in its kind event in the city of Boston and will attract thousands of attendees.

The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) has over 34 years of existence and is the nation’s oldest and largest Latino/Hispanic professional association with 34 chapters and over 7,000 members. ALPFA’s mission creates opportunities, adds value, and builds relationships for its members, the community and its business partners while expanding Latino and diverse leadership in the global workforce. Membership information is available on the ALPFA website.

The ALPFA Boston Chapter was founded in 2000 and as of July 2008, is the largest ALPFA Chapter with over 1,500 members.
