Nivia and Héctor Piña are entrepreneurs, activists, and owners of the beloved Merengue Restaurant, opened in 1994. Their second venture, Vejigantes Restaurant, was launched in 2012 in the heart of the Villa Victoria community. In 2016 came their next gastronomic project, Doña Habana Restaurant, which is the first Latino restaurant inside a hotel in Massachusetts. La Fabrica Central Restaurant and Night Club in Cambridge MA is their latest project. Hector and Nivia’s influence in the business and political community has been put to work in favor of the challenges and issues facing the Latino community in MA. Frequently visited by politicians and celebrities, their businesses have become the prime Latino cuisine in Boston and Cambridge.
