LOWELL: Concierto de música tradicional venezolana

El café Gallería, fundado por una familia venezolana en Lowell, presentará este sábado 12 de noviembre el concierto de tres grandes artistas venezolanos: Carlos Capacho (cuatro), Fran Vielma (percusión) y el maestro Eduardo Betancourt (arpa). El concierto será de música tradicional venezolana.

La cita es de 7pm a 9pm en Galeria Café, ubicado en 366 Merrimack St, Lowell, Massachusetts 01852.

About the artists:

Carlos Capacho is a Venezuelan Cuatrist, composer and band leader. He is a graduate from Berklee College of music and member of the prestigious Global Jazz institute. He is considered to be one of the few experts of the «Venezuelan Cuatro» world wide and has had an impressive solo career performing with jazz legends such as Danilo Perez, David Liebman, Joe Lovano, George Garzone, Antonio Sanchez, Adam Cruz, John Patitucci, Ben Street, Jerry Bergonzi, Terri Lyne Carrington, David Gilmore, Marco Pignataro, Allan Pasqua and others.

Francisco (Fran) Vielma is a Venezuelan multi-percussionist specializing in Venezuelan rhythms and drums. He holds a Master in Jazz Studies from New England Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music. Vielma has received multiple awards and honors. In addition to being a performer, Fran is also a composer, arranger, and educator. In his compositions, he fuses Venezuelan rhythms with jazz elements and concert music. He is currently a member of the Music Faculty at Salem State University.

Eduardo Betancourt is a Venezuelan musician, producer, arranger, composer and multi-instrumentalist, with 22 years of experience on the traditional Venezuelan music. His specialty is in the Venezuelan Harp. Eduardo is often seen as a special featured performer and guest clinician in festivals and Universities throughout the world. He has collaborated in over 100 album recordings of renown National festivals, shows and international artists such as Simon Diaz, Oscar D León, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Danny Rivera, Arturo Sandoval, Luis Salinas, Jorge Celedón, and other great Artist from Venezuela. He recently launched a solo album entitled «Ad Libitum» capturing the results of his application of new sororities to traditional Venezuelan music giving it a refreshing contemporary sound.
