Free performances of «Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead» in English and Spanish

From July 11 to 28 at 7:30p.m, the must see play written by Tom Stoppard will be staged on the Mary OA’Malley Park at Admiral Hill, CommandantA’s Way, on the Chelsea Waterfront (AdmiralA’s Hill). A The play is described as a A»wickedly funny companion piece to ShakespeareA’s Hamlet.A» This story is turned inside out as Stoppard shows us whatA’s going on offstage from the point of view of HamletA’s school chums, the neurotic Guildenstern and the hapless Rosencrantz. The two characters do their best to understand their place in a world completely beyond their grasp. In this way, the director gives us a feast of wordplay and wit while exploring questions of identity and illusion. A

A»R&G’s DeadA» three acts will be performed in distinct locations throughout the park, with the audience moving with the action. The park’s historic dock stands in for the boat as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern set sail with Hamlet for England. Expect pirates! Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and beach chairs, and a picnic to enjoy along with the Boston harbor views.

English performances are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Spanish performances are Fridays and Sundays. Play starts at 7:30p.m.
