Madison Park Community Development Corporation (MPDC) marksits 45th anniversary with a public forum called «We Saved a Community.»The event is free and occurs on Wednesday, October 19, 7-9pm, Hibernian Hall,184 Dudley Street in Roxbury. Speakers include Representative Byron Rushing, Sarah Ann Shaw, activist and retired broadcast journalist,Joyce Stanley, Executive Director of Dudley Main Streets, and others. Light refreshments will be served.
A Look Back at the Lessons of Community Activism
The evening will feature stories from Roxbury residents who rememberor were part of the 1960Â’s community activism that fought urban renewal,
stopped the I-95 highway, helped found MPDC and saved a community.
Participants are encouraged to bring event photos, news clippings, writtenmemories, artifacts, flyers, documents or other momentos to be included
in the MPDC 45th anniversary Time Capsule which will be incorporated into the cornerstone of its next housing development.
«We Saved a Community» is co-sponsored by Madison Park DevelopmentCorporation in collaboration with Discover Roxbury. Sponsors include Bay State Banner,Touch Radio 106.1 and numerous other corporate and community partners.
