Praised for having «a magnificent personality, a superb energy, a total command and an extremely convincing taste» (La Libre Belgique), young Italian violinist Markus Placci is enjoying a growing international reputation. After a recent performance in Germany, the critics stated «as for depth and musical fantasy, he is second to no one» (Badener Tagblatt), and hailed his playing for its «verve that takes your breath away» and its «fabulous, singing-like, romantic tone» (Badische Neueste Nachrichten). Placci’s awards include 1st Prize at the XXVI Biannual Vittorio Veneto Competition (Italy), the Brahms Preis (Germany), the Carl Flesch Akademie Preis (Germany), the Baden-Baden Philarmonie Foundation Preis (Germany), the Jules C. Reiner Violin Prize (Tanglewood Music Festival, where he has also appeared as Concertmaster of Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra), the Villecroze Academy Award-Emanuel Ax with the Fortuna Piano Trio (France) and was a top prize winner at the Washington International Competition. He is an alumnus and newly appointed faculty member of The Boston Conservatory.
Romanian-born Roxana Bajdechi won the first prize at the Mozart Piano Competition for young pianists in Romania at age 10. The years to come brought her 15 more awards and prizes from national and international piano competitions. Bajdechi has performed in Europe, Asia and the United States. Her orchestral engagements have included the Mozart Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra (Tokyo, Japan), the Puerto Rico Chamber Orchestra, Black Sea Philharmonic (Constanza, Romania), Lyceum Strings (Bucharest, Romania), and The Boston Conservatory Orchestra. She is an alumna of The Boston Conservatory.
