And they’re off! Be one of the first to participate in the first ever Great Stone Dam Classic canoe and kayak race. Spend the day by (or on!) the beautiful Merrimack River in Lawrence, MA. The event features three different races to incorporate paddlers of all skill levels. The only requirement is the gumption to race. So whether you’re actually racing or just there for moral support, it’s bound to be an enjoyable experience for everyone.
WHAT: Three great races
* 8.6 mile, two-loop Racing course
* 3.5 mile Recreational course
* 1k Youth race
Again, ALL boat classes and paddlers are more than welcome to participate!

Registration is $20 for adults, but is reduced to $15 if you bring a bag of non-perishable food to benefit Lazarus House; and $5 for youth ages 16 and under. The first 50 registrants will receive free T-shirts, but don’t fret if you miss out on the T’s – there will be great prizes for all participants! After the race everyone is invited to relax and re-energize at a barbeque which will be held at the beautiful Abe Bashara Boathouse.
The race is hosted by the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program. The Race Committee includes: , Shawn Burke, Pam Browning, and Priscilla Reinertsen.
Directions:
* From Rte 93: Take Exit 45 (River Road/S. Lawrence) and head towards Lawrence. Go 1.7 miles until you see a sign for the «Lawrence Riverfront State Park.» Take a left onto Eaton Street and follow signs to «The Boathouse.»
* From Rte. 28 in Lawrence: Turn west onto Andover Street (Metropolitan Credit Union/Caesar’s Pizza) and go 1/2-mile. Take right onto Eaton Street after you pass McDonald’s. Follow signs to «The Boathouse.»
