Join for Raíces, a Jíbaro Music Celebration to benefit La Alianza Hispana. This event is an act of support and collaboration between two sister organizations, the National Congress of Puerto Rican rights and ¿Oíste?, in response to the recent budget cuts affecting crucial services in the Latino community. Raíces will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am at Cedars Hall at 61 Rockwood Street in Jamaica Plain. We are expecting over 300 people to attend. The evening’s exciting musical line-up includes live performances by Grupo Yagua’s David Morales, Efrain Salgado, Bomba y Plena with Miguel Almestica, the sounds of Salsa and Boleros del Ayer by Alex Deras, Vanessa y Orlando among many others.
In addition to raising money for La Alianza Hispana, Raíces will be an opportunity to honor the organization’s 40th anniversary. Founded in 1971, La Alianza Hispana is the starting point for over 2,000 Latinos annually who seek support at all stages of their life. La Alianza Hispana provides culturally and linguistically appropriate health and education programs to the Latino Community of Greater Boston. With recent budget cuts, our programs are at risk and it is up to us to save these services for the Latino community. Will you join me?
Tickets are $25 each and tables are $250 (for 10 places) and you can buy them online right now or on our website at www.laalianza.org. Join this joyous musical celebration in benefit of La Alianza Hispana, as we gather as a community in support of a legacy.
