This weekend marks the 9th annual Festival International of Percussion in Montérégie, a region in the southeast corner of Quebec, Canada. Recently, in March 2010 the Festival International of Percussion was awarded the recognition of «Le Grand Prix du Tourisme de la Montérégie». This is the third time in four years the festival has been officially recognized.
The FIP is the largest music and dance festival in Montérégie and every year it aims to re-discover and appreciate the world-wide range of percussive rhythms. This year the FIP has chosen «Spain» as its theme. Spain is home to a variety of communities – 17 to be exact – and each has its own distinctive identity and flare. At FIP attendees are spectators, but participants so come discover, experience, and celebrate the varied percussive rhythms of Spain all in one place! All ages are welcome and best of all – it’s FREE!
