WGBH remembers Senator Kennedy with special programming on TV, Radio, and the Web

WGBH joins the community in mourning the loss of Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who proudly represented Massachusetts in the US Senate for 46 years. We celebrate his life with the following programming.

Greater Boston
Wednesday, August 26 at 7-8pm on WGBH 2/HD
Greater Boston airs a special, live one-hour edition on the life of Senator Edward M. Kennedy.  Host Emily Rooney is joined by Peter Meade, the President of the Senator Kennedy Institute for the US Senate, Steve Grossman, the former Democratic National Chairman, former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn and Kennedy family friend Phillip Johnston, the former chairman of he Massachusetts Democratic Party.  Jared Bowen reports live from Hyannisport as the broadcast looks at the enormous contribution Senator Kennedy made to American politics.

From Joseph Kennedy’s rise on Wall Street and frustrations in politics, through John Kennedy’s march to the presidency, orchestrated by his father to Edward Kennedy’s withdrawal from the 1980 presidential race following the scandal of Chappaquidick, the family has left a legacy that continues to influence politics today.

Throughout the broadcast of All Things Considered Senator Kennedy will be remembered with a series of seven pieces commemorating his life and legacy. NPR’s Brian Naylor, Pam Fessler, Nina Totenberg, Linda Wertheimer and others host this series of special reports which include obituaries, testimonials, and in-studio analysis – culminating in an hour-long radio documentary to air on a date to be announced.

On location at the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, WCAI reporter Sean Corcoran reports breaking news and the impact of Senator Kennedy’s death on the local area. The report includes many interviews with Hyannis residents, and looks at Ted Kennedy as a neighbor and member of his community.
