TONIGHT: Spooky Egyptian Afterlife Lecture at MFA Boston, 6:30pm

In the spirit of Halloween, MFA Egyptologists explore the world of the dead and examine ancient Egyptians’ belief in the afterlife in conjunction with the special exhibition Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BC. Dr. Rita Freed will shed light on the darkened tomb where archaeologists in 1915 were greeted by the ghoulish sight of a severed mummy head placed atop a coffin. Dr. Lawrence Berman will dig deeper into the mysteries of the underworld, revealing the magical spells and rituals inscribed in tombs to protect the dead and help them navigate the dangerous road to the afterlife. The curatorial talk is free with a general admission ticket, which includes entrance to Secrets of Tomb 10A. Free lecture tickets are available in person on October 29 at all ticket desks for anyone who has a general admission ticket for that day.
