The Boston Public Library (BPL) Foundation is hosting Cocktails in the Courtyard on Friday evening, June 26, 2009 with over 200 Young Professionals (and other friends) to celebrate the Library from the dazzling McKim Courtyard.
In order to purchase tickets or for further information, please call (617) 247-8980 or email info@bplf.com.
Cocktails in the Courtyard gives Boston’s hip younger set the chance to raise funds in support of the Boston Public Library’s award-winning Home Work Assistance Program (HAP) which offers an in-person, drop-in academic mentoring program that supports students with their homework and connects them with the BPL’s extensive resources. HAP focuses on providing homework help to students in grades three through eight – the range in which they develop the habits and study skills that will empower them to successful complete the upper grades. They receive free homework assistance in English, math, and other subjects from 120 specially trained high school senior and junior mentors. This year students are participating in 18,000 mentoring sessions.
The young supporters of the BPL will be dancing to the festive tunes of the Hang Ten Band while enjoying the courtyard and splendor of the historic McKim Courtyard in Copley Square. Grey Goose Vodka is sponsoring an incredible martini bar highlighting specialty drinks, Travessia Urban Winery and MS Walker are supplying the wine; Sam Adams is donating the beer; and the Catered Affair is serving fantastic faire. Many of Boston’s emerging business, community, cultural and social leaders will be mixing and mingling for an exciting soiree under the stars while raising money for the BPL. The ticket price is $150.
