It was a beautiful day to be outside yesterday for the Puerto Rican Festival of Massachusetts. The festival, which took place at Franklin Park after a parade, attracted about 12,000 people. Due to economic difficulties, the parade and festival were shortened to one day this year from the customary three, and the roller coasters that usually attract many festival-goers were noticeably absent. However, attendees enjoyed live music and authentic Puerto Rican food, and remarked on how the festival was a good chance to get in touch with their roots and learn about their culture.
