Joseph Marco Quintanilla, who is visually impaired, is the man behind Team with a Vision 5K — now Vision 5K — which is the only championship 5K for blind athletes and benefits a number of organizations, including Carroll Center for the Blind and Perkins School for the Blind. Quintanilla is director of development for the Carroll Center, a private, nonprofit agency in Newton that serves persons of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. He also heads up the center’s marathon team.
