(NOTE: Due to renovations at the Conservatory’s theater building at 31 Hemenway Street, The Boston Conservatory’s ticketed dance performances will take place at Midway Studios during the 2009-2010 season.)

Tickets are $22 general admission, $12 for senior citizens and $7 for all students with valid ID.  Box Office: www.bostonconservatory.edu/tickets or (617) 912-9222.

«There is a Time» (1956) is José Limón’s masterpiece, and it will be restaged for this performance by Boston Conservatory faculty member Jennifer Scanlon, who was a principal dancer with the Limón Company for 21 years. The work for 12 dancers was inspired by the Book of Ecclesiastes, which famously reads, «To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven….»

The program will also feature three world premieres: Boston Conservatory faculty member Mary Wolff’s «Colony,» inspired in part by the movement of insects; Guest artist Bonnie Mathis’s «Contrasts,» inspired by the music and dance forms of the Carpathian mountains, bringing together folk dance and modern movement, joining historical and contemporary styles; and faculty member Gianni Di Marco’s «Muñecos (Dancing Dolls),» «a Bachian Bacchanal.»

The Boston Conservatory Dance Theater performs under the artistic direction of Yasuko Tokunaga and presents masterpieces and new works in both ballet and modern dance. It was named the Best of Boston by Boston Magazine.
