Juan Andrés Ospina Sextet
Shortly before releasing his first album with his own sextet, Colombian pianist and composer Juan Andrés Ospina will be presenting a set of original compositions with an incredible band featuring musicians from all over the world. His music tastefully blends Colombian traditional rhythms with a more contemporary Jazz idiom, creating a unique sound that has been praised by music personalities such as Danilo Pérez and Maria Schneider. His debut album will be released in March 2009. Mellow Bellow is a musical amalgam of cultures and colors directed by accordionist, vocalist and composer Magda Giannikou. Mellow Bellow will entertain you for an evening of brazilian beats, french lyrics and exotic sounds. Surrounded by a ring of brilliant musicians from the jazz and world music realm, Magda Giannikou invites you to listen to her original music, with a twist. MUSANER
A uniquely evocative musical project directed by composer & pianist Ara Sarkissian. The band's music includes original compositions as well as arrangements of folk music from Armenia, the Caucasus, and the Balkans. Drawing on influences ranging from American jazz to European post-modernist composers, Sarkissian's work deftly explores exciting new rhythmic and harmonic territory while remaining true to its original folk roots.
